Background
Lucas was called to the Bar in early 2019 after completing pupillage with Mr. Peter Duncan S.C., Mr. Alan Ng, Mr. Osmond Lam and Mr. Walker Sham. He holds a Master of Laws from Columbia University, a Master of Laws in Corporate Law from University College London, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Warwick.
Lucas’ civil practice focuses on commercial disputes and personal injuries. With two Master’s degrees in corporate law, he acts for financial institutions and insurance companies in contractual and shareholders’ disputes and advises on corporate governance. He also advises on medical negligence litigation, appears in the Coroner’s Court in inquiries into the causes of death, and handles disciplinary proceedings before the Medical Council, the Dental Council and the Veterinary Surgeons Board. He is an arbitrator and mediator accredited by MCIArb and HKMAAL respectively.
Lucas’ criminal practice covers commercial crime and organised crime. He acts for multinational corporations in defending white-collar crime, advises on market misconduct and regulatory compliance, and regularly prosecutes on behalf of the Department of Justice as Counsel-on-Fiat.
Lucas has acted as sole advocate for notable clients, including The Hon. Alice Mak, SBS, BBS, JP, The Hon. Kwok Wai-keung, JP, The Hon. Leung Yiuchung and Mr. Cheung Kim-hung, former CEO of Apply Daily.
Lucas is also passionate about community service. He is a Committee Member of the HKSAR Government Homantin Area Committee, where he advises on matters of public interest and public funds, and a Council Member of Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan Kindergartens, supervising all 17 Catholic kindergartens in Hong Kong.
