Background
Joyce was called to the Bar in 2018. She read law at the University of Reading as an IFP Scholar and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Laws from the University of Hong Kong, followed by the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) in 2017.
Joyce has a substantial practice in criminal law, with her day-to-day practice predominantly in the Magistrates’ Courts (including Juvenile Courts) and the District Court, where she appears regularly as sole advocate in both defences and prosecutions. Her practice covers dishonesty offences, violent crime, drugs and poisons offences, road traffic offences, sexual offences, money laundering, bribery and corruption, customs and excise offences, immigration offences, departmental summonses and public order offences. She has experience in litigating sensitive mental health issues and in dealing with regulatory bodies such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
She also accepts instructions in civil matters, including personal injuries, matrimonial and competition law.
Joyce speaks native English, Cantonese and Mandarin. She reads and writes English and Chinese (traditional and simplified) and is proficient in legal translation.
